Vocations

A Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life for England and Wales.

Lord,
Make me a better person,
more considerate towards others, more honest with myself, more faithful to You.
Make me generous enough to want sincerely to do your will whatever it may be.
Help me to find my future vocation in life and grant that through it I bring happiness to others and find happiness myself.
Grant, Lord, that those whom You call to enter the Priesthood or Consecrated Life may have the generosity to answer Your call, so that those who need Your help may always find it.
I ask this through Christ Our Lord,
Amen.

Newsletter Insert for 4th Sunday of Easter - 13th April 2008

Today we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Easter - Good Shepherd Sunday.  In our Gospel reading at Mass, Christ presents himself as the Good Shepherd and the Gate of the Sheepfold.  He tells his listeners of the love and care that he has for them; this includes us today as members of his Church.

This Sunday, we are also reminded that, as he prepared to ascend to the Father, Jesus entrusted a role of care and leadership to his apostles.  The ministry originally given to the apostles is continued today in Church by bishops, priests and deacons who are called to serve God and his people in a special way.

We are invited to join the universal Church in praying for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life throughout the world.  May God strengthen those he calls and fill them with a generous spirit to respond in love and service of his people.

If you feel that the Lord is calling you to serve in the priesthood or religious, please visit our Links page and browse the websites listed under 'Vocations'.  Fr David is also on hand to offer further guidance and advice.
